Americorps*VISTA Service Opportunities - 3 positions

Three one-year Americorps*VISTA Service Opportunities in the areas of: Financial Fitness Education Campaign; Community Stabilization Campaign; Foreclosure Prevention Campaign. Working closely with three CEDC Divisions, namely: Homeownership Center; Property & Asset Management and Community Building & Neighborhood Revitalization, the THREE Americorps*VISTA volunteers will assist in the development of financial fitness education to increase home ownership for families and to support youth in meeting their goals for higher education or entrepreneurship. Secondly, another VISTA volunteer will assist CEDC staff in developing a plan for community stabilization in the City of Fillmore. The VISTA volunteer will outreach, mobilize residents, and recruit resident leaders; will develop partnerships with local businesses; work with City schools, faith communities and local service organizations; in partnership with residents create, promote and initiate action plans, etc. The third VISTA volunteer will assist CEDC staff in building capacity of the Homeownership Center staff to reduce the number of foreclosures, stabilize communities affected by foreclosure and protect and build personal and community assets in low- and moderate-income communities. ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must be 18 years old. VISTA is a 12-month, full-time commitment and is required to work an average of 35-40 hours per week. VISTA members cannot hold any other paid position while serving their term. VISTA members cannot be full-time students while in service. Part-time course work must be directly related to service placement and must be approved in advance. EDUCATION: B.A. or 3 years of related volunteer/job experience is preferred.
