Restore Neighborhoods LA (RNLA) is a not-for-profit corporation/holding company established to acquire and rehabilitate foreclosed and abandoned single family and multi-unit properties in South LA and San Fernando Valley as part of the Neighborhood Stabilization Program. The Assistant will work closely with RNLA’s Project Manager(s) and Construction Manager(s) to coordinate the process of identifying, evaluating and purchasing properties. Position(s) report to Executive Director.
Responsibilities:
• Serves as the intake coordinator of information on properties available for purchase;
• Gathers standard information on properties for sale, assigns properties to technical staff and appraisers for analysis, and communicates to sellers RNLA’s interest in acquisition or lack thereof;
• Enters all descriptive property and project tracking information into computer database;
• Coordinates access to properties for initial inspections;
• Ensures that all due diligence items have been ordered, received, reviewed and approved within tight timeframes/deadlines;
• Serves as a liaison with outside agencies by sharing information and working collaboratively to advance the property acquisition process;
• Receives, reviews and obtains signatures for all escrow and title documents, including funding requests;
• Coordinates procurement of property insurance, establishment of utility accounts, and payment of property taxes;
• Ensures that all project files are maintained with required documentation and in compliance with program requirements;
• Performs other related and/or administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent plus at least 3 years experience in related position within the real estate field.
• Experience with the escrow process and understanding of title issues is required.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multiple team members.
• Strong writing, communications and oral presentation skills.
• Computer literacy and experience working with MS Office software programs including Word, Outlook, Excel and Powerpoint.
• Able to work effectively in a time sensitive work environment.
• Exceptional organizational skills, highly attentive to detail and able to perform tasks with limited supervision.
