The Community Reinvestment Modernization Act of 2009 (HR 1479) was introduced into the US House of Representatives last month. This landmark legislation will hold mortgage companies, insurance companies, and all other financial institutions responsible for offering safe and sound financial products to working neighborhoods and communities.
To support the passage of HR 1479, NCRC calls you to Action Step #2:
Please call your Congressional leaders TODAY and ask them to co-sponsor HR 1479. When you call, request to speak with the staff member who covers financial service issues, and explain why holding financial institutions accountable for responsible lending and investments is important to you and to your community.
Read NCRC's talking points that will guide your conversations with Congressional members and/or staff.
NCRC's goal is "50x6/11": 50 co-sponsors in the US House of Representatives by June 11th to tie in with NCRC's nationwide Day of Action and build momentum for the passage of HR 1479 in the House this summer.
Please report results of your call backs to Sarah Bedy, Membership Organizing and Advocacy Associate, at 202-464-2719, or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
