Update: AB 2293 Passes State Senate Appropriations CommitteeSubmitted by Robert Dhondrup on 13 Aug 2010 - 8:01pm.(SCANPH is sharing this news with our members via a communication we recevied from Julie Snyder of Housing CA) Good news! HCA's AB 2293 got off the Senate Appropriations Committee's suspense file yesterday on an 11-0 bipartisan vote.
This was a big step, as hundreds of bills didn't get off the suspense file. The bill was amended to require HCD to reserve/escrow permanent funds under MHP, TOD, and Joe Serna to provide a more solid guarantee to the construction lender. (Updated Information July 20, 2010) The Senate is now on the verge of passing H.R. 4213, which among its many provisions had once included $1B in funding for the National Housing Trust Fund (NHTF) and the extension of the 9 percent Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) exchange program.
