Congress Adopts Budget Resolutions Including National Housing Trust Fund

California Tax Credit Allocation Committee Public Hearing Schedule Announced

Notice is hereby given that the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee ("TCAC") will hold public hearings on March 24, 2009, March 25, 2009, and March 26, 2009, on proposed amendments to the Low Income Housing Tax Credit Qualified Allocation Plan.

The Southern California meeting will be in Los Angeles on March 24, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Junipero Serra Building, Carmel Auditorium, 320 West 4th Street, Los Angeles, CA.

SB16 (Low Income Housing Tax Credits) Receives New Support From Banks

The California Bankers Association came out in support of SB 16 (Lowenthal) recently, which should help convince moderate and conservative legislators of the bill's value. SB 16 makes Low Income Housing Tax Credits awarded between July 1, 2008, and December 30, 2010, refundable for either the investor or awardees.

Yesterday, Housing CA. met with HCD's Lynn Jacobs and Chris Westlake. HCD is compiling a list of projects frozen in the Pooled Money Investment Board (PMIB) queue.

They have asked for our assistance in collecting information regarding anticipated dates by which funds will be needed to close or proceed with the next stage of development.

The department is currently looking at a 12-month time horizon starting in March 2009.

The Senate Revenue and Taxation Committee has passed SB 16 (Lowenthal), a bill supported by SCANPH and affordable home builders making Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) awarded between 2008 and 2010 refundable for investors or developers, in order to counter the recent drastic drop in interest among investors.
