OUR VOICE, OUR VOTE BREAKFAST KEYNOTE

Our Voice, Our Vote: How the 2024 Ballot Could Shape the Future of Affordable Housing in Southern California

Time: 9:30 AM - 10:15 AM | Location: Ballroom

The outcomes of the November 2024 election will have far-reaching implications for the future of affordable housing in Southern California. Join us for this year’s breakfast keynote — a panel discussion focused on breaking down the upcoming ballot, public opinion in the state, and how election results will define how we address housing affordability and homelessness in our region. With a month left until the November election, we hope you leave the conference empowered to continue to use our collective power as a community to advocate for the political and social changes that advance accessible housing for millions of Californians. Don’t miss out on this informative keynote!

PANELISTS: Kerry Cavanaugh, LA Times Editorial Board; Dr. Shakari Byerly, Evitarius; David Wagner, LAist

MODERATOR: Yarel Ramos, TelevisaUnivision

LUNCHEON PROGRAM!

This year we will be hosting a luncheon buffet and brief program, where we will announce our Developer of the Year and Housers’ Hero awardees! Please join us in the Ballroom to celebrate our honorees and then enjoy a chance to network with peers, visit our exhibitor hall, or take a break during our lunch hour.

Proposition 1 Listening Session with HCD

Time: 3:00 PM - 4:15 PM | Location: Room 207

Proposition 1, passed by California voters in March 2024, is a critical step in advancing the state’s goals to reduce homelessness and protect our most vulnerable populations. With $2.2 billion in funding allocated from the passage of Proposition 1 for the Homekey+ program, HCD will expand on the success of its Homekey Program to help support the development of permanent supportive housing for veterans and individuals at risk of or experiencing homelessness and with mental health or substance use challenges. This funding in addition to other key changes to the Mental Health Services Act will help to provide individuals and families with safe, affordable housing with supportive services to address behavioral health challenges, providing housing stability and the support needed to thrive.

This Listening Session will include a brief overview from HCD on the Stakeholder responses received from the Program Overview and will request interactive feedback on how this funding can best serve stakeholder needs!

EVENT MAP:

Exhibitors are in Exhibit Hall A. Registration is in the Ballroom Foyer, directly outside entrances to the Ballroom. Workshops will be in the Conference Center on both floors (room numbers above for each track).
